Man City are looking to strengthen their midfield this summer window by trying to sign Liverpool midfield target, Matheus Nunes from Wolves.
The Athletic from David Ornstein reported that Manchester City are exploring a deal to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pep’s side are trying to sign their fourth player this summer by getting Nunes. Meanwhile, reports are saying that they have already secured the signature of Jérémy Doku.
The absence of Kevin De Bruyne has taken a toll on the Manchester side. He could possibly be out on the sidelines for up to 4 months.
They were also reportedly after West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta before Doku. However, an FA investigation into potential betting breaches made sure they didn’t get the Brazilian.
Liverpool target, Nunes being targeted by Man City
The 24-year-old was transferred to Wolves from Sporting Lisbon last summer. He was previously been linked to a move to Anfield but now it seems that he would be poached by the Etihad team.
However, his current side would not want to lose out on the Portuguese midfielder. But if the mighty Sky Blues come knocking with huge money, they might budge.
But, as we have already seen in this window, there is still a chance for a surprise.
The Portuguese was initially targeted by Klopp as a part of his midfield rebuild. However, the hefty fee made Klopp look into other options as the Reds explored other targets.
Eventually, they chose to go after Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
At this moment though, the Reds are trying to get more players before the transfer window shuts. They are trying to sign the Brazilian, Andre Trindade after missing out on Caicedo and Lavia.
Meanwhile, they are also trying to sign the Dutch midfielder, Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
