£103M Star Goalkeeper Available For £26M: Liverpool and United’s Dream Transfer Finally A Reality!
Jan Oblak, Atletico Madrid’s best goalkeeper, has been put up for sale according to the latest reports. This will be great news to English teams with both Manchester United and Liverpool interested in him.
The Slovenian international has always been a top target for the Reds and the Red Devils. It is therefore strange that he is available at such a cheap price. The Spanish giants are asking for only £26m (€30m) which is just one-quarter of his previous valuation.

This shocking decision by Atleti has caused confusion among football fans worldwide. His numbers show that he is one of the best goalkeepers in history.
He even had a release clause of £103m! Therefore, it comes as a surprise that they would let him go, leaving many scratching their heads.
At 31, the man has been the squad stalwart during Diego Simeone’s regime. The most significant changes that Atletico have made in their transfer playbook, give the signal that even patriarchs, such as Oblak, are not immune to the winds of change blowing through Diego Simeone’s squad.
AS explain that the Atletico Madrid No.13 has ‘lost his status as an irreplaceable player’ at the Wanda Metropolitano, as those in the boardroom eye a squad revamp, which will be funded by the sales of big names deemed to be expendable this summer.
Oblak apparently earns £305,000-a-week at Atletico Madrid, so it comes as no surprise to see the Spanish outfit show a desire to get his huge salary off the wage bill.
The idea of playing in the Premier League might be tempting Oblak. Reports are indicating he might prefer to move to England. Both Liverpool and Manchester United have a long-standing interest in the goalkeeper.
Alisson’s Future In Doubt
The well-established link between the goalkeeper and both teams’ entry into the transfer market is growing with the possible departure of Alisson Becker from Liverpool triggering rumours.
Respected journalist Dean Jones recently told the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast there is a possibility of Alisson leaving Liverpool, saying:
“There’s a small chance Alisson leaves, that might come onto the radar, that might be some sort of issue they have to deal with there as well, there’s a lot that needs sorting out here.”
This rumour may fall on deaf ears, as Manchester United only recently spent £50m to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan, while Liverpool arguably boast the best goalkeeper in Europe in Alisson Becker.
Oblak’s statistics speak volumes of his quality, having kept 12 clean sheets in 49 appearances across all competitions this season.
With vast experience, razor-sharp reflexes, and a towering presence between the posts, Oblak is the defensive linchpin that could fortify any team’s backline in an instant. The prospect of landing a player like Oblak at a bargain price is too enticing to ignore.
