David Ornstein Reveals Liverpool’s Transfer Strategy As Club ‘Lose Patience’ With £37M Star
Journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Liverpool FC are considering selling Luis Diaz this summer as they will reinforce their attacking line.
The summer of 2024 will be bringing many new things to the Merseyside club. Arne Slot’s Anfield takeover after Jurgen Klopp’s departure will be the biggest change for the club.
The Dutch manager’s arrival from Eredivisie side Feyenoord will bring new tactics and some other changes as well.
Slot has already made it a point to reinforce his midfield with some new signings. This season’s defensive woes due to injuries have also made the club think twice about introducing some new defensive signings this summer.
However, amid all these new updates, the transfer rumours of some existing players like Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz have been concerning for the Kopites.
David Ornstein On Liverpool And Luis Diaz
Renowned sports journalist and football transfer expert has shared some crucial development regarding the Columbian winger and his future at Anfield.
“I’ve already heard from multiple contacts they’re looking for a wide player. Now, I don’t know if that’s to add to what they’ve already got. Is it because there’s been speculation around the future of Luis Diaz, who is yet to sign a new contract which is quite unusual for a player who’s done so well? He’s been linked with moves elsewhere, let’s wait and see on that. But it is a bit of a bulging in-tray for the new hierarchy.”
Ornstein said on The Athletic FC podcast.
Diaz has been a subject of interest for some clubs for potential transfer this coming summer. The Reds are reportedly ‘losing patience’ with the former Porto winger. There is also a ‘growing belief’ that the club is willing to cash in on the forward.
Since joining LFC back in 2022 for £37M, Diaz has made 95 appearances while scoring 24 goals and assisting 13 times (stats correct as of 04.05.2024).
Even though the Columbian international has not been consistent with his performances, he has been able to produce many beautiful moments at Liverpool.
Should Liverpool sell Diaz, the club might be losing a pacey and flashy winger with some great instinct for goal.
