Representatives of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola have confirmed that the Spanish tactician will stick to his PL job for the next season.
The PL has undoubtedly been the best and most entertaining football league across the globe for the last 10 years. Most of that success can be credited to the rivalry between Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
However, the Reds boss is bound to bid goodbye to the club after nine glorious years and countless memorable experiences.
The German tactician’s Anfield exit would also mean that the respectful rivalry between Klopp and Guardiola would come to an end.
The success in the post-Klopp era at the Merseyside club is a little tricky to predict with Arne Slot taking over the reins and also taking charge of the rivalry with the Sky Blues.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have emerged as the prime antagonist to the Etihad side and Klopp’s departure would only solidify that place.
Pep Guardiola To Elongate His PL Career
Their has been a buzz surrounding the Spaniard leaving the PL following Klopp’s LFC exit. Guardiola has won every possible silverware while managing Barcelona and currently Man City.
However, when he was at Bayern Munich between 2013 and 2016, despite he won almost every trophy at Germany, he could not secure the Champions League.
And this is why the 53-year-old thinks he has some unfinished job in Germany. The recent situation at the Bundesliga club situation is critical.
Thomas Tuchel, the current Bayern coach has been under severe criticism for the club’s poor form across all competitions.
Even though the former Chelsea coach was considering to extend his contract, that prospect is off the table now.
The managerial dilemma after rejections from Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Ragnick and Julen Lopetegui has led to the speculations regarding Pep rejoining Bayern.
However, the Spanish tactician’s representatives confirmed that he will stay at City for the next season.
“Pep has Bayern in his heart, but he doesn’t want to leave Manchester City this summer. He’s very happy and has a contract until 2025. A return to Bayern is not an option.”
Guardiola’s representatives told Sky Sports.
Speaking earlier this year, Guardiola himself stated,
“I’m fine. There’s still one more year, I want to do it – and maybe I will extend. I try to manage.”
This news might be satisfying for the Cityzens but it would definitely impact the future plans of the Reds and the Gunners.
