Liverpool along with competitors like Manchester United and Real Madrid are looking to sign Sporting Lisbon defender, Goncalo Inacio this January.
The German tactician has asked his club’s hierarchy to sign the defender this January. Hence, there is a high possibility that the Reds might trigger Inacio’s £52m release clause in the January transfer window.
He looks to be the replacement of Joel Matip who is out of contract at the end of this season.
Newcastle also interested in Liverpool target, Goncalo Inacio
As per Maisfutebol journalist, Bruno Andre, Newcastle might also make a bid for Inacio.
“Newcastle has been studying behind the scenes the signing of Gonçalo Inácio. The Sporting central defender has been closely monitored since last season, with the assessment gaining more strength in recent weeks.
To guarantee the purchase of the young player in January, the English club has already learned that it will need to meet the value of the release clause: 60 million euros.”
As per reports, Sporting would not accept anything less than the full £52m. Moreover, it would be a huge profit for the Portuguese outfit considering that Inacio is an academy product.
He would also join a long list of talents to have joined from Portugal if he leaves for England. The likes of Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes, and Matheus Nunes have all moved on for huge fees.
Meanwhile, Klopp feels that the 22-year-old would be a perfect fit for Liverpool. He could partner with Van Dijk in the central defence area. Also, he would have been a great tutor for the Dutchman and Klopp alike.
With Konate out injured, he would be a viable option and could also challenge the Frenchman in the starting XI. At only 22, he could be a great signing for the Reds.
Before any other club seals the deal for Inacio, the Reds need to act fast and secure the signing of an exciting prospect.
