Liverpool will have four key players returning to full fitness from injury ahead of the Premier League clash with Manchester City on Saturday.
The Reds have shown great character and composure this season, despite facing several unorthodox challenges.
The unfair and controversial loss against Tottenham Hotspurs this season being the lowest, they have risen to great heights.
As things stood right before the November international break began, the Merseysiders sit in the 2nd place at the PL points table.
The club has accumulated 27 points after 12 games so far, scoring 27 goals and conceding 10 goals.
And the Anfield side is trailing by 1 point right behind the table-toppers Manchester City. So the weekend showdown between the Reds and the Blues can be the title-deciding match in that sense.
Even though the Etihad side will be the favorites to win the game playing at home on Saturday, LFC can take advantage of the current situation.
Liverpool injury boost against Manchester City
The Merseysiders confirmed via their official website that four key players will return to action against City.
Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones, and Ryan Gravenberch all trained at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby on Thursday.
The French defender suffered a minor muscle injury before the match against Brentford. He also withdrew from the France squad for games against Gibraltar and Greece.
Although the fans feared the worst about the injury-prone center-back, he is expected to play against City. His composed yet pacey defending will be needed to stop Pep Guardiola‘s attack.
The English defender suffered an injury prior to the Brentford clash and has been injured throughout this international break. He missed the game against the Bees as a precaution after suffering a minor knock.
Gomez will be available for the upcoming match as Klopp has used him across the defensive line this season.
The German will be looking forward to using him in the left-back position instead of Kostas Tsimikas for increased defensive stability.
The Dutch midfielder missed LFC‘s last two matches due to a minor knee injury. He has been impressive with his performances since joining this summer. He will expectedly return in action against the Manchester side, continuing his good form.
Jones missed 6 of Liverpool’s last 8 games for injury and suspension. The English midfielder has been used by Klopp across the midfield. He will also be a strong contender to start in the midfield against the Blues.
On top of that, Manchester City will miss out on several players for injury making it tough for Pep Guardiola. So it should be easier for Liverpool and Klopp to reign over City.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
