Liverpool are reportedly ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch this summer.
The Reds had a tumultuous transfer window this summer with arrivals and departures. The club focused on rebuilding their midfield before jumping into the new season.
However, that definitely did not go as planned. The club saw senior midfielders like James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita leave on free transfers.
Although Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai joined the Anfield giants, the club suffered due to two players moving out.
Club captain Jordan Henderson and his midfield companion Fabinho’s transfers to Saudi Arabia damaged Klopp’s idea of a midfield revamp.
This forced the Merseysiders to seek out other midfield options to replace the duo. And after losing out on both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, LFC signed Wataru Endo.
However, they would still need another signing to strengthen the midfield and Ryan Gravenberch would be a perfect candidate for that.
And latest update regarding his transfer looks positive.
Liverpool ahead of Manchester United to sign Gravenberch
As per a new report via The Daily Mail, the Reds are currently leading the race to sign the 21-year-old. And they might complete the deal very soon.
The report has claimed that ‘talks between Liverpool and Bayern have been described as productive’.
Two English giants Liverpool and Manchester United grew interested in the Dutch midfielder recently with Erik ten Hag praising him for his ‘enormous passing accuracy‘.
Gravenberch joined the Bavarians from Ajax last summer under Julian Nagelsmann’s management. But since joining the German giants, he only got 937 minutes of playtime.
And in this season he is yet to get any many minutes under Thomas Tuchel which most likely he would not be getting.
And keeping all these in mind, if the Merseyside giants are able to capitalize on the situation, they could have a great midfield talent in the team.
