‘That Is Unforgivable…’: Jamie Carragher Warns Liverpool Star After Loss In Merseyside Derby

Former Red-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher has warned star Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez about his future after the shameful defeat against Everton.

The Reds encountered another loss in the month of April as they lost the PL clash against their Merseyside counterpart Everton.

The 244th Merseyside Derby concluded with a scoreline of 2-0 in favour of the Toffees as Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for their team.

This defeat meant that the Anfield side lost their third match this month across all competitions. It has also impacted their PL standing as they now have 74 points after 34 games played, trailing by three points behind Arsenal.

Even though the whole team’s display was disappointing last night, pundit Jamie Carragher pinpointed Nunez’s poor performance. The former Reds defender stated after the match as quoted by Liverpool Echo,

“The chance that Nunez misses before half-time, that is unforgivable at this level. That is not acceptable at this level, certainly when Liverpool are going for the title.”

Carragher Passes Verdict On Liverpool Striker Darwin Nunez

Carragher went on to analyze how these poor performances by the Uruguayan forward might affect his future at Merseyside.

I think there is a question to ask, you want him to do well because there is so much that you like because he gives everything, he runs and causes trouble and gets the odd goal and gets an assist.

You are looking at it now and after two years, I don’t think there is going to be a massive improvement in him. What we have seen in the last two years is what he is.

He can cause trouble, he can be erratic with his finishing. I don’t think it is going to be enough to win you the biggest trophies so I think there is a big decision to be made on him in the summer.”

Carragher boldly claimed.

Across all the 92 appearances he had made, the former Benfica striker has only scored 33 goals. His inconsistent form at the top level has made him the subject of criticism for fans and pundits.

The PL title hope for Liverpool is quite over but if Nunez does not get his act together, the club might have to take some serious action regarding him.
