Chelsea might have to sell ex-Liverpool target Conor Gallagher to avoid spending breaches amidst several other summer transfers seeking transfer elsewhere.
The Reds were one of the few PL clubs that spent heavy money in the transfer market this summer. But the Merseysiders were nowhere close with their £140m spending to what Chelsea FC splurged in transfers.
The London side completed their overhaul for more than £1b under the ownership of the BlueCo consortium.
The grudge from the Anfield side would be that the Blues signed their prime summer targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
However, all of the big spending did not turn out very well as Chelsea found themselves in 12th place in the PL.
Jurgen Klopp jokingly referenced how fate has turned out for the two targets at an Anfield test event: “My god were we lucky!”
Now the Stamford Bridge side is under investigation for overspending in the Abramovic era after they self-reported. By the looks of it, they will face sanctions for their past actions.
Chelsea have to sell Conor Gallagher
However, the West London club is in more trouble as it would make “financial sense” to sell the English midfielder to avoid further spending breaches, as per a report via the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old is a Chelsea academy graduate who was a summer target of LFC. As the England international has been a consistent performer this season and has almost 18 months left in his contract, the club believes his sale would generate an ample amount of money to accommodate further signing.
Several players want to move out of Chelsea
Another report via the Daily Mail has suggested that many players are growing impatient with the situation at the Stamford Bridge. So, they have already asked their agents to seek transfers elsewhere.
The report stated,
“Frustrations are extending to certain members of the squad, who are privately instructing their agents to seek moves away. Which is easier said than done given the long-term contract, eight years in some cases, that have been signed.”
Although no particular name has been mentioned in the article, the usual suspects are Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Noni Madueke, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile and others.
The Blues have been a disaster under co-owner and chairman Todd Boehly as the method of amortizing the signings was already suspicious. Now the club finds itself in such a position which will take a long and intense time to get out of.
