19-year-old midfielder reacts to rumours that Liverpool want to sign him
As the January transfer window is soon approaching, Liverpool continues to be linked to many players and the newest to the list is Adam Wharton.
The Blackburn Rovers midfielder has been a possible target for the Reds this January. Moreover, the 19-year-old is seen as one of the most promising young talents in the Championship.
āIām not too interested in itā: Adam Wharton on possible links to clubs like Liverpool
However, despite all the links involving a big-club switch, the teenager is set to stay at Edwood Park the next season.
Moreover, while asked about a possible release clause, the midfielder told the Lancashire Telegraph that he didnāt know and ultimately didnāt care.
āNot that I am aware of. I am not a lawyer, I havenāt seen the ins and outs of the contract but I donāt think so [that thereās a release clause in his contract].ā
While also being asked about interest from top division clubs, Adam claimed that he wasnāt interested in the rumour game.
āI think itās something that comes part and parcel with being a footballer. Loads of players have to deal with that. I donāt tend to read much into that, a lot of the stuff you see online, you donāt even know if itās true.
Most of the time, I find out on Twitter myself like everyone else. I am not too interested in it. I get on with my game, I am a Blackburn Rovers player and thatās what I am concentrated on. Speculation will come and go, whatever happens, happens. It wonāt affect my game.ā
Wharton extends Roversā contract
The teenager has now extended his stay at the Championship side and is set to stay until 2028. He is still a very young player but the professionalism he shows is pretty impressive.
Moreover, Wharton suggested that his level-headed approach is very much aided by his agent, Gregg Broughton.
āItās really important [having a good agent], you see a lot of time where players make the wrong decisions or they are misguided.
Heās done a great job, he is constantly speaking with me and there is a plan there to improve and develop.
At the end of the day, I know how football works, I am not stupid. I know what is right and whatās wrong, I wonāt make any stupid decisions to jeopardise my career.ā
Although the midfielder is still young, he possesses the thought process required for a top professional.
Moreover, in this age and day where youngsters tend to quickly consider a big-club switch, it is good to see the youngster take it slow and easy.
However, he is surely a talent to keep tabs on and could be one for the future.
