Liverpool’s left-back, Andy Robertson, is poised to make a triumphant return in the New Year after a prolonged absence due to a dislocated shoulder.

The 29-year-old Scotsman’s recovery progress, marked by a successful surgery and dedicated rehabilitation, reflects a promising outlook for the Reds.

Recovery Journey

Robertson, sidelined since mid-October, has been making “daily progress” at the AXA Training Centre.

The Mail’s Lewis Steele notes that the Scotland captain is “on schedule” to resume full training next month, emphasizing his commitment to a regimen that combines treatment and strength work on the injured shoulder.

He told Viaplay Sports:

“Yeah, getting there, slowly but surely. Surgery was a success, which was the main thing, no complications from it. So far, so good.

I think I’m about three weeks since my surgery now, so everything is progressing well. Just bit by bit, got to take it week by week.

Everything has gone well up to this point and hopefully that continues and then hopefully before we know it I’ll be back on the grass.”

Timeline and Potential Comeback for Andy Robertson

While a specific return date remains elusive, indications suggest a cautious approach. The strategic decision to avoid risking Robertson before the winter break aligns with the upcoming fixtures, ensuring he returns at full fitness.

Liverpool’s schedule, with five games in December and clashes with Newcastle and Arsenal in early January, positions Robertson’s comeback after the break, providing ample time for readiness.

Managerial Perspective

Jurgen Klopp, already buoyed by Alisson’s return and crucial saves, is unlikely to rush Robertson back into the starting lineup.

Klopp acknowledges the impact of key players from the bench, highlighting the team’s resilience in Robertson’s absence.

The manager’s prudent approach aims for a seamless integration of Robertson back into the defensive lineup.

Fan Concerns and Team Performance

Despite initial concerns from fans about coping without Robertson, Liverpool have showcased impressive form in the Premier League during his absence.

Winning six and drawing two of the eight matches without the left-back, the team’s resilience is a testament to the depth of the squad.

Andy Robertson injury Update

In a recent update, Robertson expressed optimism about his recovery, affirming the success of the surgery and steady progress.

Klopp’s earlier estimate of a three-month absence seems on track, aligning with mid-January for Robertson’s return.

As Liverpool navigates a congested fixture list, the imminent return of Andy Robertson emerges as a beacon of hope for defensive solidity.

The meticulous recovery process, Klopp’s strategic considerations, and the team’s commendable performance without Robertson underline the anticipation surrounding the left-back’s return to the pitch.
