Journalist, Neil Jones suggests that Liverpool youngster, Harvey Elliot who is ‘technically brilliant’ could now put him in contention for his first start this season.
The England international has been terrific for the Reds this season but is yet to start a league game. He was effective for Klopp as he came off the bench to score the winner against 10-man Crystal Palace in the 91st minute.
Moreover, this win coupled with the loss of Arsenal, has seen Liverpool go on top of the PL table.
Now Neil Jones suggests that the 20-year-old’s performances could put him in line for his first league start. The Reds face Manchester United this weekend, after their Europa League fixture against Union St. Gilloise.
‘There aren’t many at Liverpool playing better’: Jones on Elliot
While talking to Empire of the Kop, the journalist suggested that the Englishman could start for Klopp this weekend in the Prem.
“There are some big games coming up, aren’t there? You’d think before Saturday we might have said Elliott would have his eye on that West Ham game in the Carabao Cup, but has he now played himself in the frame for Manchester United?
There aren’t many midfielders at Liverpool who are playing better and more consistently!”
Moreover, the midfielder is a bit unfortunate not to nail down a starting position already. But again it isn’t anyone’s fault as Klopp has to choose between Szoboszlai and Mac Allister. Also, both of them are already ahead of Elliot in the pecking order.
Not to forget the likes of Gravenberch, Curtis Jones and Endo are also first-team regulars ahead of Elliot. But the former Fulham man has been patient and is taking every opportunity being presented to him.
However, with the Reds already in the last-16 of the Europa League, a start would be a huge boost of confidence for Elliot.
Moreover, this could prepare the youngster for an important Premier League fixture against Manchester United.
