The transfer of former Liverpool target Gabri Veiga to Saudi Arabia should be a warning sign to the decision-makers of the club.
The Merseysiders have looked scattered all over the place in the transfer market. They had a good start with the signing of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for around £95M.
But soon it started going downhill with the departure of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. And their transfer to the Saudi Pro League created a big hole in the midfield.
And then started the Anfield giants’ scavenger hunt for their next midfield signing. The club was linked with almost every midfielder throughout Europe.
The Reds even came close to signing Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia from Brighton and Southampton respectively. However, Chelsea hijacked both deals due to the incompetence of Liverpool officials.
Former Liverpool target Gabri Veiga completes Saudi Arabia transfer
According to the latest update on Twitter by Fabrizio Romano, Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga will be joining Al-Ahli after ‘documents are signed and sealed’.
Liverpool had earlier expressed their interest in the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder. But soon they cooled their interest in him.
The youngster is considered as one of the brightest talents in Europe considering his age. And missing out on one of the talents definitely points out the poor decision-making of the club.
The club already missed out on many of their targets and finally got hold of Wataru Endo. So far he has looked decent but another signing is very much needed.
And the Merseysiders’ development with Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is looking promising but the club officials should act faster to secure the deal.
As per SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, the Reds are willing to pay as much as £20M to sign the Bayern Munich player.
But again the decision-makers need to work faster if they intend to land this transfer in their favour.
