Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement in principle for a new contract with Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the deal valued at over £55 million, as per sources from Football Insider.
Under the terms of the new contract, Alexander-Arnold is set to earn more than £200,000 per week, inclusive of bonuses, and it is anticipated that the agreement will be finalized in the near future.
Earlier in September, reports revealed that Liverpool had secured an “agreement in principle” with the 24-year-old, who is currently under contract until 2025.
Liverpool’s top brass has been collaborating closely with Alexander-Arnold’s representatives to finalize the remaining details of the contract, and the official announcement of the deal is expected soon.
Another deal secured by Liverpool
This development coincides with Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Liverpool, selling a minority stake in the club to the US private equity firm Dynasty Equity for an undisclosed amount, estimated to be between £82 million and £164 million.
Securing Alexander-Arnold’s future has been a key objective for Jurgen Klopp, and sources suggest that the right-back is fully committed to the club and has no intentions of departing. Despite not yet turning 25, Alexander-Arnold has spent his entire professional career at Anfield, amassing an impressive 277 appearances for the club.
The England international has successfully transitioned into a hybrid role over the past year, making the most of his exceptional passing abilities.
In the previous season, he contributed four goals and provided ten assists in 47 appearances.
He was a regular starter for Liverpool until he sustained a hamstring injury at the beginning of the current campaign.
