Liverpool Football Club is reportedly finalizing a new contract for Trent Alexander-Arnold, following an “agreement in principle.”
The 24-year-old, who has been with Liverpool since his youth days, is in the last years of his current contract, set to expire in 2025.
This development comes as Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, recently sold a minority stake in the club to Dynasty Equity, worth between £82 million and £164 million.
Securing Alexander-Arnold’s long-term commitment has been a top priority for both the club and manager Jurgen Klopp.
He has risen to become a senior player at Liverpool and was recently promoted to vice-captain. While top clubs across England and Europe covet him, sources indicate that he is dedicated to Liverpool and has no intentions of leaving.
Liverpool Football Club reached “agreement in principle” with Trent
Earlier reports indicated that there was an “agreement in principle” for a new deal, and negotiations have progressed to the final stages.
Club officials and Alexander-Arnold’s representatives are working on the remaining details, and an official announcement is expected soon.
Alexander-Arnold has excelled in a versatile role, particularly in utilizing his exceptional long-passing ability.
Last season, he contributed four goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
Unfortunately, he sustained a hamstring injury in early September and has been sidelined since the victory over Aston Villa.
The last time Alexander-Arnold extended his contract with Liverpool was in July 2021, following the club’s Premier League title win. As per FBRef, his current reported weekly wage is £180,000.
