Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has predicted that Liverpool will win the clash against the Red Devils on Sunday.
With the weekend nearing, the excitement regarding the clash between two English giants Liverpool and Manchester United is brewing. However, to what extent the latter club can be called giants, remains a question.
The Merseysiders have revived from their last season’s dreadful performance and risen to the 1st place in the PL. With only 1 loss and 4 draws they have collected 37 points in 16 matches.
On the other hand, after having their worst start to a season since 1989-90 season, the Red Devils sit 6th in the points table.
Recently, in the midweek, United were thrown out of the Champions League after finishing in the bottom of the group behind Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
Furthermore, the stats support that the Reds have a better chance of winning the match. LFC are unbeaten in their last seven PL home games against Manchester United, winning the last two by an aggregate score of 11-0.
Peter Schmeichel predicts Liverpool to win against Manchester United
Speaking at the post-match analysis, the Red Devils legend said,
“Everything seems out of sync, I have to be honest. Of course, you have Harry Maguire coming off with an injury. Luke Shaw came off with an injury.
We’ve got Liverpool on Sunday. I’m trying not to think about that. It’s going to be without our captain [Bruno Fernandes, who is suspended], without possibly our best player of the last month or so, Harry Maguire.
It’s going to be without Luke Shaw if he is injured. The prospects are not very good. Based on this performance [Bayern Munich], how can this team go to Anfield and win? I just can’t see it.”
The confidence of Liverpool winning all 7 of their PL games at Anfield this season will also increase their confidence and push them to win against their bitter rivals.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
