The under-construction upper tier of the redeveloped Anfield Road Stand will be partially opened on Sunday. Liverpool City Council has granted the necessary health and safety licenses after a successful test event at the ground on Monday.
LFC manager Jurgen Klopp paid a special visit to the test event and had a Q&A session with the supporters. The German coach stated on the club’s official website,
“I love it, it’s unbelievable. When it started, I couldn’t imagine how it would look. Seeing it now, I’m really touched and a little bit emotional.
I’m not sure if everybody realises this is an historical moment and I’m proud to be here tonight. We are the first people to use this wonderful venue.
I know you can’t see it from this side, but let me tell you it’s outstanding. What a beautiful new stand. I can’t wait for us to use it.”
