Liverpool are targeting ex-City academy player, Romeo Lavia while Man City are closing in on RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol as per multiple reports.

The Reds have been incredible in the current transfer market by signing two of the most exciting midfielders, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.

The Merseysiders aren’t blessed with the financial prowess as of their rivals, Manchester City.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Twitter that talks remain ongoing between RB Leipzig and Pep Guardiola’s outfit. Moreover, the club is expected to seal a deal for the talented Croatian before the window closes.

Even though the Reds’ focus is on the midfielders for the next season, Klopp is looking to bring in defenders as well. One of the main targets was the Croatian, Gvardiol.

However, after spending the majority of the funds on midfielders, missing out on the £85.4m-rated center-back was always going to be an expected casualty.

Liverpool targeting Lavia as Gvardiol revenge plan?

Romeo Lavia, formerly of City’s academy setup, is understood to remain the subject of ‘concrete’ talks, with Jurgen Klopp a big fan of the Belgian.

Meanwhile, the asking price for the Belgian is said to be £50m. And the Reds are said to be in the race to sign the player along with Arsenal and Chelsea. The ‘incredible’ midfielder is one of the hot prospects for many PL clubs right now.

Moreover, he said that he wouldn’t be willing to play in the 2nd tier, which has gained much more interest.

Also, this could be an amazing piece of business for the Reds. They could manage to have a sort of revenge mission along with Man City. The Citizens would have then missed out on an amazing prospect whom they let go off to Southampton.

Despite City possibly getting Gvardiol, there would be no doubts that Pep would have loved Lavia in his ranks. The Catalan manager himself described the 19-year-old as ‘incredible.’
