New Liverpool signing Dominik Szoboszlai has shared how he felt after speaking to manager Jurgen Klopp before his transfer this week.
While speaking to the press after becoming a new Liverpool player, the Hungarian spoke about his admiration for Klopp.
The Hungarian has quickly risen through European football, reaching the Premier League at the age of just 22.
Liverpool acted swiftly and activated the Leipzig man’s release clause which is reported to be £60m. The personal terms weren’t a big deal as the player said that he wanted to move to Anfield after hearing the Reds’ interest in him.
‘Everything was perfect’: Szoboszlai on Liverpool move
Szboszlai has now shared how he felt after speaking to Liverpool boss Klopp before putting pen to paper. It sounds like the Hungarian didn’t need too much convincing after their conversation.
While talking about his first reaction, the Hungarian said that he felt that it was a good thing.
“Hard, hard question. I was really happy but still, I stayed calm because I didn’t want to be happy too early.
First, when the boss called me, I felt, ‘OK, it can be a really good thing at the end, yes, everything was perfect.“
The Hungarian brings a lot of quality to the table for the Reds. However, it would be interesting to see how the German boss would deploy the new number 8.
With the hybrid role of Trent that we saw at the end of last season, it would be interesting to see where Szoboszlai would fit in. Also, Mac Allister would occupy the CAM role just behind Nunez/Gakpo in the striker role.
This would mean that the 22-year-old might be a proper box-to-box number 8 along with either Henderson or Fabinho.
Liverpool already have plenty of attackers at their disposal and haven’t used an attacking midfielder in the past.
Moreover, the signing of Szoboszlai might indicate that Klopp is willing to slightly change his tactics this season.
Since the signing of Mo Salah, he has been Liverpool’s top scorer every season. It has obviously put a lot of pressure on the Egyptian. However, with the goal-scoring prowess of the Hungarian, it could take a lot of pressure of the number 11.
All said and done, there would be a lot of interest and excitement amongst the Liverpool faithful to watch Szoboszlai next season.
