Liverpool star Luis Diaz is being criticized by Columbia fans after he missed a penalty kick against Ecuador in an international friendly last night.
The Merseyside players are going through several ups and downs on the international stage. Club captain Virgil Van Dijk’s form is quite in question at this moment.
Andy Robertson has been injured which will last for atleast a few months along with his countryman Ben Doak’s injury.
But there has been good news also with Darwin Nunez’s performance against Brazil as he scored one goal and assisted one goal. Also, vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold has been in fine form for England.
However, things are not going well for star winger Luis Diaz with his recent form and goal drought for both the Anfield club and his national team.
Liverpool man Luis Diaz criticised by Columbia fans
The Reds attacker looked in good rhythm last night as he was a huge factor in winning a penalty kick for his nation against Ecuador.
It was the perfect opportunity for them to break the deadlock and put themselves in front.
Diaz stepped up to take the spot-kick but saw his shot being saved by Ecuadorian goalkeeper Moises Ramirez.
And this has apparently enraged the Columbia fans according to a report via Ecuadorian media outlet El Espectador.
They claimed that the former Porto man is ‘not going through a good present’ with Columbia. And this has made the Liverpool winger a ‘target’ for angry fans on social media.
It is true that his goal output has not been up to the mark. Although his ‘extraordinary’ play created the penalty opportunity, what ultimately stands is converting them and scoring goals.
And this has made him ‘trending’ on Tuesday night and not in a good way. Although he has not been in his best avatar, we hope that he gets back to his ferocious form very soon.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
