Liverpool skipper Virgil Van Dijk has lauded his fellow national and club teammate Cody Gakpo as ‘fantastic’ in a recent interview.

The Reds are in fantastic form this season as they entered the third international break this season.

They are currently standing in the 2nd position after 12 games with 27 points, one point short of the table-toppers Manchester City.

Liverpool prepared to agree a fee of £52.5m for the Portuguese star- Report

And most of the team’s success can be attributed to the amazing attacking line. The Merseysiders, so far in this season, have scored 27 goals.

And the defense has backed it as they just conceded 10 goals. Skipper Virgil Van Dijk has led the defense and the whole team from the back as a leader should.

Liverpool captain Van Dijk praises Cody Gakpo

In a recent interview by Premier League, Virgil Van Dijk was asked to name one nice attribute about Cody Gakpo. He replied,

“One nice attribute about Cody Gakpo is just the person he is in general. What a guy!

Obviously, he’s a fantastic player, but just the person he is, he’s a great guy and we should be very happy to have him around us.”

England manager was full of praises for Liverpool star who played in his new midfield role

LFC signed the Dutch attacker this January from PSV Eindhoven. Although Manchester United were favorites to sign him, the Reds completed the deal quickly with a reported fee of £35M.

And since then the 24-year-old has proven to be an exceptionally important player for the Merseyside giants.

What potential next Liverpool signing did against Luis Diaz – Is the signing process still on?

This season he has scored 4 goals and assisted 1 goal in 14 appearances across all competitions (stats via Transfermarkt).

His ability to play anywhere across the pitch has given Klopp a chance to utilize him accordingly. He has featured in every attacking position this season.

However, the best way for him to shine will be if Klopp sticks to a constant position for him so that he can contribute even more.
