Liverpool have been heavily linked to Portuguese star, Goncalo Inacio and are reportedly close to signing him from Sporting CP this January.
The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been in the mix for Inacio’s signature. But the Reds are reportedly ahead of the two Spanish giants. As per the Spanish source, Nacional, Klopp is close to luring in Inacio to the Merseyside.
Liverpool to meet the demands to sign Inacio
The Merseysiders are willing to bet hard to hire the services of the Lions star, who has been in top form this season. If reports are to be believed, Sporting are adamant that the release clause of of 60 million euros must be met.
However, the Reds could not only pay the sum but are also ready to offer the defender a starting role in the team.
Meanwhile, Barcelona does not have the financial power to reach the asking price of the Portuguese club. And Madrid cannot promise the player a starting role in their already-packed defensive setup.
Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk, is back to his best this season but the veteran is past his prime and so is Joel Matip. On the other hand, Joe Gomez has been inconsistent and injury-prone.
Thus, the Reds need reinforcements in their central defense, with possibly a leader in the future. This is where Goncalo Incaio becomes a crucial signing for the Reds.
He has been in top form this season in the Portuguese League. He has featured in 10 games for Sporting and has played 892 minutes.
The defender has 1 tackle per game and makes 0.8 interceptions per game. He is also very hard to dribble past with only 0.5 times dribbled past per game.
It would be interesting to see how Liverpool would approach this transfer. The Portuguese would be a key player, for Liverpool alongside Van Dijk and Konate.
