Manchester City‘s Erling Haaland experienced a recurrence of a recent injury during Norway’s 2-0 victory over the Faroe Islands, according to Norway’s team doctor Ola Sand.
Haaland, who came on as a second-half substitute, suffered the setback while converting a back-post tap-in, getting his foot stuck beneath him. Despite receiving on-field treatment, he managed to finish the game.
This injury is a source of concern for Manchester City fans, as Haaland had previously been replaced at half-time in a match against Bournemouth on November 4 but recovered in time to play against Young Boys in the Champions League.
The 23-year-old striker also played the full 90 minutes and scored twice in City’s recent 4-4 draw against Chelsea before the international break. This also included his infamous goal from his B***s.
Norway’s doctor, Ola Sand, stated that the recent injury is similar to the one Haaland experienced against Bournemouth, describing it as a slight twist in the ankle that makes him vulnerable.
Sand mentioned via Norwegian outlet VG that Haaland will receive treatment, followed by rest, and they will assess his condition the next morning.
The medical team has already communicated with Manchester City regarding the situation.
Haaland to miss Liverpool game due to injury?
This injury adds to Manchester City’s concerns, as several other key players, including Nathan Ake, Ederson, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, and Rodri, have dealt with injuries during the current international break.
With additional players like John Stones, Sergio Gomez, and Kevin De Bruyne also sidelined, Manchester City might face a challenge in fielding a full-strength squad for the upcoming matches against Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa.
Haaland, who has scored 17 goals in 18 appearances for City this season, including 13 in the Premier League, will be closely monitored for his availability in the upcoming fixtures.
