Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Liverpool are surely going to sign ‘atleast another midfielder’ before the start of the season.
After making two brilliant signings in Mac Allister and Dominic Szoboszlai, the Reds are still in pursuit of another midfielder.
This is well before the midfield duo of Fabinho and Henderson were rumoured to be leaving the club and heading to Saudi.
After releasing players like Milner, Keita, and Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Reds are set to further lose Fabinho and may be Henderson as well.
The Reds need to find a replacement, for any one of them who would be leaving the club this summer. The experienced players might be hard to replace but there have been a few names on the Liverpool wishlist.
Fabrizio reveals Liverpool midfield plans for the summer
Klopp is looking at various options in the market for midfielders. And after bringing in 2 midfielders already, one might think the Anfield club would focus on strengthening other areas of their squad.
However, this hasn’t been the case as the Merseysiders are still on the hunt for midfielders. The names of Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, and others have appeared as potential targets.
The Southampton youngster Romeo Lavia is on top of their midfield wish list. However, they could face competition from Chelsea and Arsenal for him.
Moreover, there could be a case in Arsenal that after signing Rice for a British record fee of £105m, they might be out of funds for Lavia. Similarly, Chelsea are chasing Caicedo who is priced at more than £100m by Brighton
This could give an edge to Liverpool to bring Lavia to Anfield this summer.
However, they are not holding negotiations for the signing of Brighton star Moises Caicedo. And the Reds are considering other possibilities for that role.
As it stands, it appears that Liverpool are far from done in the summer window. They are going to further improve Klopp’s squad to compete for major trophies next season.
