Liverpool fans were given a huge update as Sky Sports journalist reveals that the Reds would not sell both Henderson and Fabinho in the same window.
There has been a series of reports about the club willing to sell both their key players to Saudi clubs. Many reports have been stating that Jordan Henderson could leave the club after interest from Saudi club.
Additionally, Fabinho could follow his captain to Saudi after Al-Ittihad made a £40m bid for him.
Liverpool might not offload both Henderson and Fabinho this window
Speaking via Football Daily, Sky Sports journalist, Melissa Reddy gave an update regarding the same.
“Liverpool leave for pre-season camp on Saturday and it’s all going off at the moment. They’re expecting Henderson to make a decision one way or another because they want these matters to be resolved quickly, But they’re also now priming for a bid from Saudi Arabia for Fabinho for around £40m.
Liverpool say they can’t deal in hypothetical situations. So far no offer has materialised for Henderson, and there’s no offer for Fabinho on the table presented to them yet. So, they can’t really decide what they’re going to do until that happens.”
Giving her take on what Liverpool would be thinking right now, she admitted that she can’t see both players leaving.
“I can’t see them countenancing two experienced midfielders leaving at the same time without much preparation being done to get other experienced midfielders in. Also aligning to the fact that they’ve let James Milner go.
There’s been a lot of exits and upheaval for Liverpool already. And while they did know it was going to be a summer of transition, I don’t think they were planning on ripping up the script on the standard-setters and the culture-bearers and losing so much of their core all in one go.”
Liverpool may not have planned for these two potential exits this summer. But they may not have much choice in accepting them.
As for Fabinho, there would be no better deal after his value crashed due to his poor performances last season. This deal sounds too good to let go off.
And for Jordan Henderson, Klopp would not stand in his way if the Englishman really wants to leave.
Although a recent report also claims that AL-Ettifaq have cooled their interest in Jordan Henderson, for now. A deal is still possible but the Saudi side hopes to get Henderson on a free or a nominal fee.
