In anticipation of their Premier League showdown, both Liverpool and Brentford are contending with several injury concerns.
Brentford’s goalkeeper, Mark Flekken, who was substituted at halftime during their recent win against West Ham, is expected to be fit for the match at Anfield.
However, there are lingering doubts surrounding the availability of Josh Dasilva, Keane Lewis-Potter, and Mikkel Damsgaard despite their return to training.
Shandon Baptiste and Myles Peart-Harris are also uncertain for the game, although they are nearing a comeback.
The injury list for Brentford includes long-term absentees Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Ivan Toney, and Kevin Schade, who is projected to remain sidelined until the New Year following surgery.
Brentford manager ahead of Liverpool clash at Anfield
Thomas Frank, Brentford’s manager, acknowledged the challenge ahead, highlighting Liverpool’s prowess as a top-tier team globally. He praised LFC stating:
“They have new energy in their squad with some of their new signings. [Dominik] Szoboszlai is a fantastic player. [Darwin] Núñez is getting closer to his top, and [Diogo] Jota is a top player. [Luis] Díaz – I’m pleased to hear his parents are now safe – is a fantastic player. Then you have the standout guy, 25 plus goals, [Mohamed] Salah.
It’s an unbelievable team at Anfield – one of the most difficult away grounds to go to, if not the most difficult. It will be a tough test, but as always, we trust ourselves. We will try to take the game to Liverpool.”
On the Liverpool side, injuries to players like Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Curtis Jones, Andy Robertson, and the suspension of Alexis Mac Allister, who received his fifth yellow card, add to their concerns.
Additionally, summer signing Ryan Gravenberch is a doubt after missing the Europa League match against Toulouse due to a minor knee issue.
Klopp remains hopeful that Gravenberch will recover in time for the Brentford clash or he will definitely be back after the upcoming international break.
