Trent Alexander-Arnold lauded Liverpool teammate, Alexis Mac Allister after the midfielder scored his first goal for the club last night against Fulham.
The World Cup winner had played his part in Liverpool’s good run of form this season. However, he had not scored until now and is contribution proved vital as Liverpool came from behind to win 4-3.
Since his £35m arrival from Brighton this summer, he has been playing in the deep-lying midfield role. One could quite easily notice that it wasn’t the midfielder’s favourable position on the field. Moreover, Mac Allister had a lot of critics talking about his performances for Liverpool.
However, his first goal was a thing of beauty as his 35-yeard effort at Anfield brought Liverpool back on level terms. Moreover, Trent Alexander-Arnold was blown away by the Argentine’s effort.
Trent ‘blown away’ by Liverpool teammate, Alexis Mac Allister
While talking post-match via Liverpool’s official website, Trent stated that it was an outstanding strike.
“It’s one of them. I’m playing the game thinking there’s no way I can’t get goal of the game and I’m half thinking I could get Goal of the Month here already just going into December! Then 20 minutes later Macca has laced one into the top bin like that.
I’m thinking, ‘What is going on here?!’ It was an outstanding strike. [I had] a great view of it. I was kind of in line with him and just seeing the shape of the ball you could see as soon as he hit it, it was a good chance [of going in]. Yeah, an outstanding strike and I’m sure there will be different angles.
I remember turning around and me, Joel and Virg had the same reaction, we were just gobsmacked. [We] didn’t even really go celebrate [because it was] just pure shock. It was an outstanding strike and very good for him to get his goal.”
Of all the days to score, the Argentine chose to score in what was an outstanding match at Anfield. More possibly, he might not score a much better goal for Liverpool in the future.
The goal was the pick of the cherry among other world-class strikes in the game. Moreover, it is a strike worthy of a season award.
The power, the technique and the angle were all perfect for the former Brighton man. With Endo also shining in the game, the number 10 might be pushed up forward in the midfield in the future.
