Liverpool struggled to secure a draw in their recent match against Luton Town, with a late goal from Luis Diaz salvaging a point.
Luton Town had thought they had the game in the bag when Tahit Chong scored late, but Diaz’s last-minute strike saved the day for the Reds.
The overall performance by Liverpool was subpar by their high standards, with one notable blunder being a shocking miss by Darwin Nunez.
Carragher on Tsimikas: Luton 1:1 Liverpool
In the dying moments of the game, Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas committed a needless foul, which drew strong criticism from Jamie Carragher, who described it as a “stupid” mistake, disrupting Liverpool’s momentum.
“Stupid challenge, absolutely ridiculous. Perfect for Luton, take your time with the free-kick, but what are you doing,”
Said Carragher while Speaking on co-comms for Sky Sports.
Tsimikas had started on the bench but was brought on by Jurgen Klopp to try to change the game. However, his contribution was lackluster, and the late foul epitomized his performance.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal had disappointing results this weekend, failing to secure wins as they seek to challenge Manchester City this season.
Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed with his team’s inability to secure all three points against a lower-ranked team in the league.
Such results can be costly over the course of the season, leaving Liverpool frustrated as they head back to Merseyside.
The bright spot for Liverpool in this match was Luis Diaz’s goal, but other than that, it was a lackluster day for the team.
