Former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino was left fuming after his former teammate Sadio Mane jumped onto him after Al-Nassr scored against Al-Ahli.
This summer was one of the biggest if not the biggest transfer window for the Saudi Pro League. The league scavenged players from across the globe and brought them in.
The Reds also lost several players to Saudi and they targeted several other players as well. The league since has become a reunion party of mostly washed-up players.
Former Merseyside mates Bobby Firmino and Mane also joined Saudi side Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr respectively. Both the players alongside Mohamed Salah terrorised Europe with their attacking prowess.
The Brazilian very emotionally ended his eight-year-long relationship with LFC and moved to the Middle East for free.
And the Senegalese winger moved to Saudi Arabia after having a disastrous season at Bayern Munich.
Sadio Mane enrages Roberto Firmino
Both the players recently faced each other in a match between Al-Nassr and Al-Ahli. Mane’s side won the match 4-3 but arguably the highlight of the match was something completely different from goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr opened the scoring which was followed by Talisca’s second goal. However, Frank Kessie reduced the difference with a curler which ended up in Al-Nassr’s top corner.
And for Talisca’s second and third for Ronaldo’s side came right before half-time. Mane won the ball back in his own half and then played the upfield which resulted in the goal.
After the goal, most of the players went to celebrate with Talisca but Mane proceeded to celebrate the goal by jumping onto his former teammate Firmino’s shoulder, who was busy at pointing his current teammate.
Clearly the Brazilian was not in the mood to celebrate as his team had just conceded a goal. This goes to show his level of competitiveness and urge to win.
However, this definitely did not create any discontent between the two mates who once used to score and celebrate together.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
