Liverpool have shown significant interest in Goncalo Inacio in recent months as the January transfer window approaches.
Reports via 90Min suggest that Liverpool have been monitoring the Sporting Lisbon defender for more than a year, even sending scouts to watch him play for Portugal during the last international break where he put on an impressive display, contributing with an assist in Portugal’s 5-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As per the Portuguese outlet CM, now, Liverpool are set to have another firsthand look at the 22-year-old talent as they plan to send scouts to observe Inacio in action during the derby between Sporting and Benfica.
Two more European giants interested in signing Goncalo Inacio
However, they aren’t the only club interested in him. Manchester United and Real Madrid will also reportedly have representatives at the game.
Goncalo Inacio, the Portuguese center-back, has a release clause of £52 million in his contract.
He is highly regarded in the world of football and is considered one of the hottest talents in Europe, having already made 137 competitive appearances for Sporting and earning four caps for the Portugal national team.
Inacio’s talents have received praise from various quarters, including Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, who referred to him as a “matador” on social media after his performance for Portugal.
While acquiring Inacio would be an exciting prospect for Liverpool, they face stiff competition in their pursuit.
Securing his services in the middle of the season might be challenging, but Liverpool could potentially have a better chance in the summer transfer window.
The coming weeks will reveal more about the outcome of this transfer pursuit.
