Liverpool would travel to the home of Manchester City to face the treble winners but the champions would be without their key player, John Stones, who is sidelined by an injury.
The Citizens are aiming to win the Premier League for the fourth consecutive season. Moreover, they have started their title defence in fine form with 27 points from 11 games, putting them top of the table.
The table toppers are also into the round of 16 in the Champions League after beating Swiss side, Young Boys Tuesday night.
However, it wasn’t all good news for Pep’s side as they lost John Stones to an injury during the game.
Now, it has been confirmed that the England international will be out for a long time (report via SkySports). This means that he will miss the Liverpool clash at the end of November.
No English side has won the league 4 consecutive times and Man City look to achieve this feat. However, their major threat are the 2020 PL champions, Liverpool, who are looking in great form.
The Reds are only 3 points off of the Champions, in third place. Liverpool travel to France to face Toulouse today, for their Europa League group-stage fixture. Next, they welcome Brentford to Anfield before traveling to Manchester.
Meanwhile, the Citizens travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea before hosting Liverpool. The Blues are flying high after beating Tottenham last weekend.
Manchester City’s John Stones to miss Liverpool clash
The two giants of English football meet on 25th November in a highly anticipated clash. However, Pep would be without one of his main men, John Stones.
The former Everton man missed the start of the season due to a hip injury and only recently returned to action in October.
However, his injury woes escalated and he was forced out of the game in the 2-0 win over Young Boys. Guardiola spoke in support of his defender after the game.
“I feel so sorry for him. He is so important for what he does. It is a muscular injury, it will be a while. It is a pity, it is bad news for us. I don’t know how long.”
The 29-year-old was a crucial part of Pep’s treble-winning squad last time out. He played in the middle of the park with new tactics from the Spaniard. In fact, he was extremely good in his midfield role while helping out Rodri.
However, the Manchester club still has the likes of Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol. They would surely hope to help their club in the absence of Stones.
