Spanish giants Real Madrid have entered the race to sign £52M Liverpool target centre-back Goncalo Inacio from Sporting Lisbon in January.
The mighty Reds have been in great form this season so far with their exquisite display of courage and commitment. They even had an extensive rebuild to bolster their midfield this summer.
However, the only department that has been a little worrying is the Merseyside defense. The team has been able to keep a clean sheet on only 4 occasions this season after 15 matches across all competitions.
The Anfield giants had targeted a few defenders this summer but ultimately did not follow through till the end. One of the names that surfaced many times has been Goncalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon.
And he has been linked with a potential move to Liverpool in January once again. But there has been some developments which might not be fruitful for the English side.
Real Madrid to compete with Liverpool for Goncalo Inacio
According to a new report via AS, the Spanish giants will go on a tussle with LFC for the Portuguese defender.
As Carlo Ancelotti is in dire need of a center-back after Eder Militao’s injury, Inacio has emerged as a potential replacement for them.
Whereas, Jurgen Klopp needs a center-back, preferably a left-footed one, to be a potential successor to aging Van Dijk and Joel Matip.
And the ‘dominant’ 22-year-old defender could be a good fit. Apart from the Merseysiders, Newcastle United and Manchester United are also interested in him.
Now the Portuguese international could choose to join Los Blancos as his interest lies there. He could choose to follow in the footsteps of his countrymen Luis Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Pepe.
However, if the Reds really want to secure the deal then an early bid could possibly secure it, the sooner it is the better. It would be interesting to see how this transfer saga pans out for Liverpool.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
