RB Leipzig sent a message to Liverpool on Twitter, after spotting a spelling mistake on Dominik Szoboszlai, the new number 8’s, shirt yesterday.
Szoboszlai made his first start alongside new signing Mac Allister yesterday, as the Reds lost 4-3 against Bayern Munich. It was a decent performance from the Hungarian, as he got 76 minutes in the tank.
However, not everything was in order as his surname was all mixed up. His tricky surname was printed wrong by the Liverpool kit staff.
‘Szosbozlai’ was printed on the back of his jersey and his former club took to Twitter to say some comforting words to the Reds.
Liverpool make Dominik Szoboszlai error
The Hungarian’s name is surely not the easiest to pronounce and it is now evident after the spelling mix-up.
The Reds faithful have been getting used to his name ahead of his debut season at Anfield.
In fairness to the kit man, he probably isn’t the first to make this mistake. As Leipzig alludes to, they’ve probably been guilty of it themselves.
In the end, everyone got a bit of a chuckle and probably even the 22-year-old had a smile due to the error.
Ultimately though, it really doesn’t matter. Szoboszlai himself was happy enough to teach Reds fans how to say his surname upon first signing for the club. He clearly takes it all in good humour.
However, the error in his name wouldn’t matter as the number 8 needs to perform on the pitch.
Although it is too early to make predictions on his debut season, it would be safe to say that the fans could expect the Hungarian to be brilliant.
Surely the fans would call him something shorter and one that would come out of their mouth easily. That would be until they get familiar with his surname, including the kit man.
