Liverpool links with Barcelona midfielder Frank Kessie have surfaced up now as a report from Spanish media came out on Wednesday.
The Anfield giants are going through a midfield rebuild this summer. The club has already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
But they have already lost a few experienced midfield players. And now to fill that gap in the midfield the Merseysiders are looking out for several options.
The obvious and most likely option is Southampton’s Romeo Lavia. The club has also shown interest in Fluminese star Andre Trindade.
But the latest report indicates that LFC might be interested in another player from La Liga.
Liverpool to sign Barcelona midfielder Frank Kessie?
According to a new report via Sport, English sides Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest to sign Frank Kessie.
The Spanish media outlet reported that the Reds like the £199K-a-week midfielder and could make a move.
Apparently, Barcelona are willing to sell the 26-year-old for £13M as the player also wants to leave the club this summer.
Kessie joined the Spanish club last summer on a free transfer and he did not have a particularly good season as he did not fit into Xavi’s play style.
Moreover, Italian giants Juventus are keen on signing the Ivory Coast international and are actively trying to get the deal done.
Kessie’s addition to the team can prove to be beneficial considering many factors.
He is only 26 years old and has the much-needed experience of playing at the highest stage. The Ivorian has been a part of the Scudetto-winning AC Milan side and La Liga-winning Barca team.
And most importantly the Ouragahio-born is available for a bargain price of £13M which the Anfield giants just should not miss upon.
Also, he can possibly serve the club for the next 5 years which is exactly what the club needs right now.
Considering all these factors, Kessie can be a great signing for Liverpool.
