Liverpool defender, Ibrahima Konate has been an ever-improving player for the Reds since his arrival and PSG are said to be interested in the Frenchman.
Konate has been a superb signing ever since he arrived from RB Leipzig back in 2021. Although he still has 2-and-a-half years left in his contract, the Reds are keen on offering him a contract extension.
Liverpool to hand contract extension to PSG target, Ibrahima Konate
As per French outlet, Le10Sport, the Liverpool directors have now begun conversations with the Frenchman over a contract extension.
However, there is claimed to be ‘no emergency’ over the discussions. But the Reds are said to want the Frenchman’s issue ‘dealt with’ over the coming weeks.
Hence the Anfield side is hoping to reach an agreement with the 24-year-old by the end of the current season.
Moreover, reports claim that PSG are one of the teams to have taken an interest in Konate. With a new deal in the pipeline though, Liverpool reportedly hopes that they can secure the defender’s future.
With over two years left on his contract, there may be no real rush for the Reds to get things over the line here.
But starting soon might be beneficial for the Merseysiders and could give them an edge over their competitors.
As is the case with Liverpool, they tend to keep their players tied down for longer periods. Although many players have left for free in the past, many of them have been tied down to a five-year deal.
The same looks to continue with Konate who is proving to be significantly important for Klopp. He has been brilliant alongside Van Dijk but injuries have led to him missing a few games.
His latest start against Sheffield United was deemed to be fantastic by Klopp. Still only 24, Konate has the potential to be a club legend, if he stays at Liverpool.
