Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Ben Doak will not be available for the upcoming Premier League clash against Everton.
The Reds are looking to bounce back after the international break with a crucial Merseyside derby at Anfield.
Klopp confirms injury to Doak
Despite being just 17, Ben Doak has made a strong impression in Liverpool’s first team this season. Klopp informed the Liverpool media team that Doak has a minor muscle issue that will rule him out of the weekend’s match against Everton.
“Ben Doak from Scotland has a little muscle thing, so we have to see but is not available for the weekend,”
Said Jurgen Klopp.
Ben Doak, who hails from Scotland, has been a standout young talent since joining Liverpool from Celtic in 2022.
He has already made eight senior appearances for the club, including two starts. Doak has also earned five caps with Scotland’s Under-21 national team.
Renowned Liverpool and Scotland football icon Kenny Dalglish has suggested that Doak is on the verge of a senior team call-up.
James Milner has praised Doak’s “absolutely incredible” abilities, highlighting the teenager’s promising future in the sport.
Goal.com has even recognized Ben Doak by including him in their list of the top 50 young football talents. It appears that he is on the cusp of breaking into senior football ranks.
While it’s disappointing that Doak will miss the Merseyside derby, the injury does not seem to be a severe one.
