Liverpool are still optimistic that they will sign Fluminese midfielder Andre Trindade this January despite growing interest from Arsenal.
The Reds will again be engaged in the transfer market in the winter as their need for a defensive midfielder is pretty inevitable at this moment.
Although they signed Wataru Endo as a no. 6 with their extensive midfield rebuild plan over the summer, it did not solve the problem after Fabinho left.
Endo is no doubt a good player but his caliber is not up to a Premier League defensive-midfielder. So the Merseysiders will need some reinforcement in that department.
The name that has been surfacing for the past few days has been Brazilian midfielder Andre Trindade.
Liverpool to sign Andre despite interest from Arsenal
The Fluminese star is a top target for the Anfield side this winter. And their priority player is also being desired by PL rivals Arsenal.
However, according to a new report by Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, LFC are confident about signing Andre.
Although the Reds tried pursuing the Brazilian international this summer, the Brazilian side was persistent about not letting him leave.
They wanted him till the end of the season to possibly win a historic first-ever Copa Libertadores title.
They will be facing Argentine giants Boca Juniors on 4 November in Brazil in the final. Moreover, with the Brazilian season ending in December, the 22-year-old will be available for a transfer.
And as per a ‘well-placed source’, Liverpool are hoping to beat the Gunners to the signing.
The advantage the London side has is their Brazilian contingent of Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus as well as Sporting Director Edu. Also this season they are playing in the Champions League.
Apart from that, the Merseyside club has the upper hand here with the player also desiring an Anfield move. However, things will start to unfold once the winter transfer window opens in January.
