Dominik Szoboszlai admits he wants to be himself and forge his own legacy at Anfield amid comparisons with former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
The Hungarian has been stunning for the Reds since his £60m from RB Leipzig this summer. He has already scored 2 goals for Klopp’s side.
But most of his impact has been because of his tireless running, creativity, and versatility.
Szoboszlai compared to Liverpool legend, Stevie G
The 23-year-old has been compared to club legend, Steven Gerrard. He said that although he likes it, he wants his own identity.
Moreover, he said that it is nice to have the number 8 shirt at Liverpool (via Daily Mail).
“I want to do my own way but of course, it feels good if they say I am the new Steven Gerrard. I have a tattoo from Steven Gerrard what he said a long time ago. It’s nice to have the number eight shirt because really great players played in it.
just want to continue. But I just want to be myself and if I can get that big in this club like he was I’ll be really happy.”
Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, the Hungarian said he would be willing to do whatever it takes for the Reds to continue their good start to the new campaign.
“If I have to score I am going to score. If I have to assist I am going to assist, if I have to run all around the pitch I will run all around the pitch. I am here to help the team, I am not here to reach something alone.
I want to win trophies, I want to win everything and make us proud and make the fans proud and put Liverpool back again where they deserve to be.”
