Liverpool‘s under-18 team had been off to a strong start this season, although they faced a setback in their recent match against Newcastle United.
During the game, Jayden Danns, a 17-year-old forward, scored in the 16th minute, extending his goal-scoring streak to nine consecutive matches.
He beautifully placed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net, thanks to a well-placed pass from summer signing Trey Nyoni, who has been impressive this season.
Liverpool’s under-18 suffers their second league defeat
However, Liverpool’s lead was short-lived as Sean Neave from Newcastle United managed to find the net only three minutes later.
He created space within Liverpool’s defense to beat the Polish goalkeeper, Kornel Misciur.
Neave then turned into an assist-maker, setting up Thomas Bryant’s goal six minutes before halftime, completely turning the game in Newcastle’s favor.
Their victory marked the first time an away team had won a Premier League North fixture at the Kirkby Academy.
In an attempt to regain control, Liverpool made three substitutions during the second half, bringing in Lucas Pitt for Michael Laffey, and later introducing Cody Pennington and Joshua Lambie. However, their efforts didn’t yield any more goals.
Despite this loss, Liverpool’s under-18 team currently sits in the second position in the league standings, trailing leaders Manchester United by six points after seven matches played.
