Andy Robertson will miss the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton due to his injury against Spain in the international break.
The Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton holds much historical significance in English football. And for the most part the Reds have dominated the clash by defeating the other side.
This season’s first derby will be played on 21st October and the hype around it is quite something. But LFC have a bad news which will affect their game.
Andy Robertson will miss Liverpool vs Everton for injury
The Scotland international suffered an unfortunate shoulder injury in the UEFA EURO Qualifiers match against Spain. The Scottish national team lost the game 2-0 to the Spanish Armada.
But Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon right before the half-time landed on Robertson’s arm causing a shoulder injury. The Liverpool player left the pitch with agony.
He reportedly suggested that his shoulder had dislocated and was accompanied by a a member of the Scotland medical team while carrying his right arm cradled in his shirt like a sling. Scotland international manager Steve Clarke said after the match,
“It was an immediate decision to take him off, he’ll go back to his club, he’ll be assessed. Obviously he’s hurt his shoulder. We’ll have a look, obviously go back to his club.
Always seems to happens when you lose one player in a position: we lose Kieran (Tierney) on the left side and then Andy’s picked up a shoulder injury.
We’ll see how it is, see how it settles down and hopefully he’s good for his club as quickly as possible and he’s ready to help us in November.”
The Anfield giants will miss the 29-year-old for the first time for this long since he joined the club back in 2017. And in the game against Everton, Kostas Tsimikas will obviously replace the Scot getting his first start in the PL this season.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
