As per reports, Liverpool are the favourites to sign the much-spoken-about wonderkid, Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo as a part of their midfield revamp.
The Reds are said to have completed the signing of the World Cup winner, Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. Although not confirmed by both clubs, the deal is said to have been completed as per Fabrizio Romano.
Meanwhile, the Anfield club are shifting their target to other midfield options. The likes of Kone, Thuram, and Kokcu have been highly spoken of.
Meanwhile, the latest name seems to be that of the Spaniard, Gabri Viega. Moreover, if reports are to be believed, Liverpool are in pole position to sign the 21-year-old.
The wonderkid is targeted by many elite clubs across Europe including Man City, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Arsenal. However, Klopp looks to have convinced the player to move to Anfield. But it is still all rumoured and yet to be seen where the midfielder would end up next season.
Liverpool weighing up a move for Veiga
Viega burst onto the scene this season after 11 goals and 4 assists in 36 games in La Liga for Celta Vigo. Moreover, he recently made headlines after scoring a brace against the champions, Barcelona on Sunday.
However, even with an array of clubs interested in his services, many reports have claimed that the Reds are ‘favourites’ to sign the player.
“As things stand, Anfield is regarded as Veiga’s likeliest destination once the transfer window officially reopens later this month.”
Stated the report
Klopp and co. might have to trigger the release clause of the Spanish U21, which is around £35m. But it is said that “there is a willingness to meet Celta Vigo’s demands in order to push through an agreement.”
Celta Vigo’s president, Carlos Mourino is already resigned to losing his prized asset, admitting there is “nothing” they can do and that the decision ultimately rests with Veiga.
“We do not want to sell Gabri Veiga, but they are going to buy him from us and there is nothing we can do. We know some of their offers, and it is impossible to get there. There are several teams behind Gabri.
Of the top ten in the Premier (League), four have asked for him. For us, and to make it clear, he is not for sale. We have nothing to negotiate with anyone – we refer to the clause. The decision is Gabri’s – he will play wherever he wants.”
