Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has shared how the team prepared against West Ham United and to prevent Michail Antonio from scoring.
The Reds secured another victory this season this Sunday against West Ham United. They registered another 3-1 scoreline with goals from Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.
For the Hammers, the only goal came from Jarrod Bowen in the first half. However, West Ham striker Michail Antonio posed a greater threat to the Merseysiders.
Meanwhile, LFC had plans for the Jamaican international although earlier he made claims that his team would win the match and finish above the Anfield giants.
Apart from the header wide off of the Liverpool goal, Michail did not create much chaos in the Reds box.
Joe Gomez on how Liverpool stopped Michail Antonio
Speaking about how the Reds prepared for and stopped the West Ham striker, Joe Gomez said after the match,
“West Ham have got great quality, they’ve got it up front and throughout the team. Michail Antonio is a big threat and we knew that was going to be difficult.
It’s a big result for us, going to 1-1 was a moment we had to reset and regroup and we did that. It’s just about us staying confident and keep playing our football.”
The scorer for the Hammers, Jarrod Bowen said,
“We had a few chances and maybe that’s what it comes down to, just taking our chances when we get them.
Away at Anfield it is never easy and when you create good chances we should put them away.
But also we’ve got to keep the ball out of our net to give us the best chance we’ve got right up until the end of the game.”
Liverpool are looking in fine form this season despite being criticized by several pundits at the beginning of the season. However, they are proving their critiques wrong and hopefully will continue to do so.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
