Liverpool are now considering Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from the recently relegated side Leicester City as a potential transfer candidate.
The Anfield giants have faced many ups and downs this summer in the transfer market. The club saw veterans leave for free which decreased their squad depth.
However, the Reds secured two of the most talented and promising midfielders in Europe right now. And the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are already paying off as seen in the pre-season games.
Although, Henderson and Fabinho leaving Anfield has created a hole in the midfield that needs a quick fix.
Clearly, the team is lacking strong figures in the middle of the pitch. Although the team is stacked in the attacking department, the midfield requires a few more signings.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been trying to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton for quite some time now.
And amidst all these, a new update has emerged.
Liverpool eyeing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Leicester City
According to a report by reliable journalist Jacque Talbot, Liverpool are interested in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. The Englishman has been under the close watch of the Anfield scouts over the past season.
After the 4-3 loss against Bayern Munich in Singapore in the pre-season friendly, Jurgen Klopp stated,
“Now we have to analyse. We need to look at what’s physical. We did a lot in training, especially yesterday in tough circumstances.
You saw with the goals we conceded it was mainly down to a lack of concentration.
I hate losing. When it happens, I feel it, but it’s pre-season and a strong opponent.“
The 24-year-old can be a decent addition considering that the Merseysiders lack bench strength.
The Shepshed-born midfielder is a left-footed traditional no. 8 who can also operate at both no. 6 and no. 10 when needed.
Kiernan appeared in 34 games for the Foxes across all competitions and he scored 2 goals and also assisted twice.
He also has a defensive record of 1.7 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per game (stats via Transfermarkt and Whoscored).
And on top of all, Leicester City are open for negotiations for the 24-year-old whose contract runs out in 2027.
Liverpool should still prioritize signing Lavia before the new season begins. However, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall still can be a good signing.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
