Belgian journalist, Sacha Tavolieri has suggested that Romeo Lavia has agreed a five-year deal to sign for Liverpool and is waiting for both clubs to agree on a transfer fee.
After seeing a couple of bids turned down by Southampton, the Reds have reportedly considered submitting a third bid.
The Championship side have set an ultimatum of £50m in order to get the Belgian’s services. However, the Reds are reluctant to pay the huge sum for the teenager.
Klopp and his men are reluctant to go any higher than £40m plus add-ons.
Romeo Lavia personal terms with Liverpool agreed?
In an exclusive interview, the Belgian journalist, Sacha Tavolieri stated that ‘personal agreement’ has been made.
“These will be crucial days for the transfer of Roméo Lavia to Liverpool. Personally, there has been an agreement for some time. Lavia waits for the green light to take his medical tests with the Reds. Liverpool will make a third and ultimate attempt to sign Lavia from Southampton.
They want to seduce the Saints with 40 million euros + bonuses for the young Belgian. Lavia has a 5-year contract at Anfield.”
Last season, he made 29 appearances in the Premier League for the St. Mary’s outfit and scored just a single goal.
However, Liverpool have sufficient attackers in their ranks and would be looking to get in midfielders who would break the opposition’s play.
Lavia could be the man for the job for Klopp after getting Mac Allister and Szoboszlai. The new duo fit in as attacking and creative midfielders for Klopp.
The 19-year-old is good at pressing and making recoveries and eventually winning the ball. But after just one full campaign at the top level, the question remains whether he could replace the departed Fabinho.
The Brazilian was not only a brilliant tackler but also a top deep-lying playmaker. He was able to provide quality long passes from the number 6 position.
It is to be seen how this transfer saga would end and where the Belgian would end up next season.
