Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker will not be making a return to action in Wednesday’s Premier League fixture, as it comes too soon for the Brazilian.
Alisson had suffered a hamstring issue in the late stages of Liverpool’s draw against Manchester City at the end of November, causing him to miss subsequent matches against LASK and Fulham.
Providing an injury update ahead of the upcoming game against Sheffield United, Klopp expressed concern about defender Joel Matip, stating that he is set for a period on the sidelines after picking up an unspecified issue in the match against Fulham.

Additionally, Klopp mentioned that Diogo Jota is not yet back in team training, although he’s making progress with outdoor running activities.
Klopp mentioned,
“He [Jota] was running yesterday outside – on his birthday, and everything goes in the right direction, but nobody told me he will be back in team training today. No, there is still some time. And with Ali [Alisson] the same. Obviously, Ali is closer but not available for tomorrow definitely.”

Despite the absence of Alisson, Klopp indicated that the goalkeeper is nearing a return, offering hope that he might be back in action by the weekend.
Following the Sheffield United match, Liverpool are scheduled to face Crystal Palace in the early kickoff on Saturday at 12:30 pm.
Klopp remains optimistic about the recovery of key players, including Alisson, who has been a crucial asset for Liverpool and is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers globally.
