Gary Lineker raves about Liverpool player who left pundit amazed on Saturday

Gary Lineker and Micah Richards have both praised the ability of Liverpool number one, Alisson Becker, who has apparently picked up an injury in Saturday’s draw.

The Reds are currently worried about the fitness of their Brazilian goalkeeper. The former Roma man seems to have picked up an injury in their draw against Manchester City.

However, it wasn’t a great outing for Alisson as he made quite a few errors, only for City not to capitalize on them. But they did get a goal out of one of many mistakes by the Liverpool number 1.

However, this doesn’t justify his game as he was once again crucial in Liverpool’s quest to win the game.

Although they didn’t come out with all three points, Alisson made 2 big saves to make sure the Reds secured a point and stayed in the hunt for the title.

Lineker and Micah heap praise on Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson

While speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, the two pundits spoke highly of the 31-year-old.

“He’s [Alisson] brilliant, in fact the two goalkeepers, Ederson and Alisson, they’re right up there in the top few goalkeepers in the world aren’t they.”

Said Lineker.

“Alisson is not so good [as Ederson] with his feet, but his positioning where he wants to be, he makes himself big.

The save from Haaland where it took a deflection of Van Djik. The way he waits before the striker gets his head up and then he attacks it to close down the space. I just thought watching them two live was really great to see, even though Alisson didn’t have his best game on the ball.”

Micah said later.

Ederson is great with his feet and could play from the back, just how Pep wants it. Meanwhile, Alisson made a few mistakes trying to replicate his international teammates’ actions.

However, what makes him stand out is the way he copes with those mistakes later. He went on to have a solid game even after making a few mistakes for the Reds. Moreover, he only has bad games on rare occasions.

The two big saves, one from Foden and the other from Haaland, shows how good he is one-on-one. Now Klopp and the team would be hoping that his injury isn’t bad and he could be back this weekend.
