Journalist Mikel Keegan has provided some important updates on the stance of Qatar in regards to a possible Liverpool takeover after a failed Manchester United bid.
The economic dominance of the Middle Eastern countries in the football world in recent times has been worryingly increasing. And their constant urge to exploit the European footballing market is also growing.
Two of the English giants, Manchester City and Newcastle United are owned by owners from UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Although the clubs are reaching new heights every year, their methods have been under scrutiny several times.
And now the rival nation of UAE and Saudi, Qatar, is currently trying to take advantage of their financial situation and enter the world of football with European club ownership.
They already tried bidding on Manchester United but their endeavours have failed.
Will Qatar takeover Liverpool?
Speaking on It’s All Kicking Off podcast, Daily Mail journalist Mikel Keegan has commented on the possibility of the Middle-Eastern country taking over the Anfield giants. As the Qataris have failed to acquire the Red Devils, it would make sense to come for their rivals as a revenge statement.
The journalist stated,
“What I know about is that they set aside $8bn for this project. That money is there and ready to go. It will be burning a hole in their pocket.
What a story that would be, if they were that way inclined. From what I am led to believe they are very disappointed and angered at how this has played out.
What better way to respond than go to United’s biggest rivals down the road and throw all the money you were going to put into United into making them pay for that decision not to sell to you.”
Liverpool owners FSG have already put the club up for sale and are willing to listen to bids from potential suitors.
However, whether the Merseysiders will be ready to accept the nation who have been violating human rights as their owners still remains a question.
The owner situation at Anfield is not as bad as at Old Trafford so the Reds would not probably accept even if they bid.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
