Former Reds defender turned pundit Jamie Carragher has analyzed how Liverpool can win the Premier League title this season.
The Merseysiders are in a good place with their form, standing 1st in the PL. Moreover, they will face one of their biggest rivals Manchester United this Sunday.
Considering all the facts and stats, the Reds should be able to win comfortably at the newly-built Anfield. But the injury issues, even though they will not be a significant issue for this match, can affect the rest of the season.
After finishing 5th last season, the Anfield giants decided to have one of their most significant midfield rebuilds in the recent past. The club signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch, spending more than £140m.
However, the Saudi-bound Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left a hole in the defensive-midfield position, which the club could not fill. Although Endo was signed, it was a signing after missing out on all the primary targets.
The long-serving Alexis Mac Allister’s injury has again created a gap in the no. 6 position. So it has become even more crucial to sign a proper defensive-midfielder this January.

Writing in his column in the Telegraph, the former Red elaborated,
“There have been signs of promise from the recent signings like Dominik Szoboszlai, and those who joined the club over the last 18 months like Cody Gakpo and Darwin Núñez, but they have not shown they can produce week after week in the same way as Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino at their peak.
The much talked about new midfield is not fully functioning yet, the trio of Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch impressing in moments rather than in back-to-back fixtures.
For Liverpool to maintain their position at the top, that has to change and the additions must raise their level from promising and occasionally good to consistently outstanding.
A decision may be looming in January regarding a top No 6. If there is one out there, why not push for it now rather than wait?”
LFC have reportedly reignited their interest in their summer target Khephren Thuram. If Liverpool follows through on this deal, they will have a great team going into the second half of the season.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
