Former Liverpool player Don Hutchinson has a belief that the Reds have a shot at winning the PL title if they sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
The Merseysiders are very active this summer in terms of signings and transfer rumours. The club has signed the midfield pair Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for a combined fee of £95M.
As it stands now, with senior midfielders leaving Anfield this summer, the Reds need to sign at least another midfielder to fill out the hole in the middle of the park.
As a replacement for Fabinho in the defensive-midfielder position, Romeo Lavia‘s name has emerged the most. Another name that is doing the rounds is Andre Trindade of Fluminese.
Hutchinson suggests Moises Caicedo can win PL for Liverpool
Taking it on his Twitter, the former Liverpool midfielder voiced his opinion saying,
“…but I stand by if Liverpool sign Caicedo (on top of what they have already got) they could win it.. He is that good!”
He also predicted that Manchester City might win the 2023-24 PL. In that same tweet he stated,
“As it stands (without any signings) Man City are my obvious favourites to win the Prem…”

Caicedo is a great defensive midfielder considering his stats and his age. The 21-year-old put in 100 tackles last season in the PL, only Fulham’s Joao Palhinha has more tackles than him (stats via FBref).
The Ecuadorian can be a great addition to this Liverpool team as he proved his worth last season. But the main issue would be his price tag set by the Seagulls.
Brighton signed Mac Allister’s former teammate in 2021 for just £4M from Independiente del Valle. And apparently, as Declan Rice was sold at £105M this summer, now they want £100M for Caicedo.
Chelsea are already pursuing the 21-year-old and might as well pay the ridiculous amount of money for him.
Whereas, the Reds are looking for a cheaper alternative and Lavia seems the decent option. Liverpool chasing Caicedo would be nothing more than just a fantasy.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
