Not ‘consistent enough’: Souness feels two Klopp favourites can’t actually take Liverpool to next level

Former Liverpool player and manager Graeme Souness thinks that Jurgen Klopp’s favourite center-backs cannot win the club any title.

After an extensive midfield rebuild this summer, the Anfield giants at the moment are cruising in the season.

They are in an 8-game unbeaten run and are hoping to extend that with a win against Tottenham Hotspurs tonight.

The team has really found its rhythm and are banging in goals left, right, and center. However, the Merseysiders are also conceding goals in almost every match.

Many experts have identified that most of the goals conceded are the fault of the Reds’ defense. Former Liverpool midfielder and coach has a hot take on this matter.

Graeme Souness says Liverpool has little chance of winning any title

Writing on Daily Mail, Souness doubted that LFC defense is not enough to win title. He wrote,

“I still think they need another centre half, alongside Virgil van Dijk. Jurgen can’t be sure Joel Matip will be consistently fit.

And I’m not sure Joe Gomez or Ibrahima Konate are consistent enough to hold that place in a team looking to win the Premier League and ultimately the Champions League

They had 20-year-old Jarell Quansah making his debut at Wolves.”

There is no doubt anymore that the club needs some fixing in the defensive department.

Except for the Aston Villa match, the Merseyside giants conceded first in the other 7 games this season and the team’s attack did wonders to somehow manage a comeback.

But if the goals from the attack start to dry up, then it would become a major problem. This summer the Reds also tried to sign at least one defender but they failed.

Although this team is very promising, if they cannot sign a defender in the coming winter transfer window then challenging for any title will become very hard for Liverpool.
